It’s been more than a year since the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted our daily lives and business operations. As of March 02, 2021, there have been at the least 115 million positive cases worldwide, and more than 2.5 million deaths attributed to COVID-19. In the United States alone, there have been more than 29 million positive cases reported and sadly more than 500,000 deaths. While these are staggering numbers, the actual scale of the pandemic’s impact on everyone’s life is beyond description.
However, since December of 2020, there have been some rays of light at the end of the proverbial tunnel. In the United States, as of today, three different vaccines have received the emergency use authorization from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and have been recommended for use by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). These three vaccines are:
- BNT162b2 vaccine manufactured by Pfizer, Inc., and BioNTech
- mRNA-1273 vaccine manufactured by ModernaTX, Inc.
- Janssen COVID-19 vaccine manufactured by Johnson and Johnson
Additionally, several other countries like Canada, India, France, and the United Kingdom among others, and the global COVAX initiative by the World Health Organization (WHO) have provided emergency use authorization to the Covishield vaccine manufactured by AstraZeneca and the Serum Institute of India.
In the United States, as of March 02, more than 51 million first-doses and more than 26 million second-doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna vaccines have been administered. As more people get vaccinated in a staggered manner, and businesses resume their operations to the level prior to the onset of the pandemic, EHS leaders at companies are struggling to keep track of the vaccination statuses of employees, contractors and visitors. This is particularly critical so as to ensure that partially vaccinated and unvaccinated individuals are not exposed to COVID-19-related risks at the workplace.
Moreover, according to a recent survey1 of HR professionals and employees in the U.S. conducted by the Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM), about 28% of the respondents indicated that they may choose not to get vaccinated. EHS leaders, tasked with the goal of offering a safe and healthy workplace to all workers, require a solution that can easily collect all of this information and offer advanced analytics and data visualization for each plant or location.
ProcessMAP COVID-19 Vaccine Tracker Solution
ProcessMAP offers a comprehensive suite of solutions for EHS leaders to manage their response to the COVID-19 pandemic. A timely addition to the suite of solutions is the ProcessMAP COVID-19 Vaccine Tracker. The mobile-first solution has been developed on ProcessMAP’s low-code/no-code application development platform - ProcessMAP Connected Workers App platform - and enables employees to self-report whether or not they have received any vaccines for COVID-19. The solution allows users to report the date and time of individual doses, upload pictures of the vaccination card, and annotate comments for supervisors to note.
The Vaccine tracker solution can be seamlessly integrated with the organization’s Human Resources Management Systems (HRMS) and other upstream Master Data Management (MDM) systems to auto-populate demographic information from company records such as the employee’s name, department, plant/facility location information, etc. Similarly, the solution is also integrated with ProcessMAP’s advanced analytics and data visualization solution - ProcessMAP Insight - to roll-up data from individual employees to department- and location-level views. This offers EHS leaders critical insights into where the individual plants, facilities, business units, departments, and other such logical groups stand with respect to COVID-19 vaccines.
